What is RSS?

RSS is a technology based on XML. RSS is used to automatically update people on topics they are interested in One does not need to visit the website to check for new ads or news; the RSS automatically provides the user with these information, when something new is added. EquiGaia offers you RSS feeds for various types of ads and news about horses.

How to use RSS?

The only thing you need is a feed reader software to grab the RSS feeds from various sites (information ordered by theme, e.g. sport, fun, etc.).

How to find a RSS feed reader?

On the internet there is a wide variety of RSS Readers available for different platforms. If your operation system is Windows and you would like a free reader, we would recommend the RSS Bandit or the Feedreader as the second option. The newest Mozilla Firefox supports reading RSS feeds in form of "Live Bookmarks". RSS feeds are also supported by Mozilla Thunderbird. Users of Linux could try out the Liferea.

How to set up RSS feed readers for different programs?

RSS-Bandit
Download: on the page that opens choose Download, then choose RSS Bandit at Sourceforge.net, on the newly opened page choose RssBandit1.3.0.42installer.zip by the name rssbandit.
Settings: choose the function Locate Feed (Ctrl+S) and on the new page choose Locate this Url, type in www.equigaia.com and click on the button Find Feeds. The only thing left to do is choose the feeds you like, click on Subscribe and confirm your choice with OK.
Feedreader
Download: on the page that opens choose Download Feedreader, then choose Download from Fileforum, on the newly opened page choose Download Now.
Settings: click the icon New Feed located in the upper left corner, paste the shortcut to the feed, which you had chosen and copied from the page www.equigaia.com, in the entry field. Then you have to type in the name of the feed. Repeat the procedure for each feed you would like to add.
Mozilla Firefox
Download: on the page that opens choose Download Firefox - Free.
Settings: When you open the web portal www.equigaia.com in Mozilla, you should see the following icon in the browser. Click on it with the left mouse button and you will get a list of optional feeds. When you choose the one you want, a new window opens where you can choose the title for the chosen feed and the location you want to save it to. Repeat the procedure for each feed you would like to add.

Mozilla Thunderbird

Download: on the page that opens choose Free Download.

Settings: click the right mouse button on the folder News & Blogs (you can also create a new folder) and choose Manage Subscriptions. Click Add and paste the shortcut to the feed, which you had chosen and copied from the page www.equigaia.com, in the entry field Feed URL. Repeat the procedure for each feed you would like to add and confirm your choice with OK at the end. The feeds you had set are now in the folder you chose at the beginning.

Internet Explorer 7
Download: in the menu Select your operating system of the page that opens, select your operating system and click go.
Settings: When you open the web portal www.equigaia.com in Explorer, you should see the following icon in the upper right corner of your browser.
